The connotation of Chinese-style modernization is the modernization of common prosperity for all, which emphasizes the demand of a very scientific distribution system. On the one hand, we need to let some people get rich first, which is achieved through diligent work. On the other hand, the system emphasizes equal opportunities rather than the simple fairness of outcomes.
What is Chinese-style modernization? How should we understand the features and the essential requirements of Chinese modernization? How should it be promoted? What are the key measures? On October 21st, Dahe Finance Cube connected Prof. Yu Miaojie, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and president of Liaoning University, to listen to his interpretation of Chinese modernization.
The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China pointed out that Chinese-style modernization is a modernization with a huge population, a modernization in which all people are rich together, a modernization in which material civilization and spiritual civilization are coordinated, a modernization in which man and nature coexist harmoniously, and a modernization in which peaceful development takes the road.
At present, China is faced with profound changes unseen in a century, and due to the impact of the epidemic in the past three years, the global economy is in a downturn. In this context, we adhere to Chinese-style modernization. First, we emphasize the modernization of economic society. China has the largest population and is the second largest economy in the world. It means that our modernization requires a larger economic volume, which is “modernization with a huge population”.
Second, the Chinese-style modernization pursues the common prosperity for all, which requires a very scientific distribution system. On the one hand, we need to let some people get rich first, which is achieved through diligent work. On the other hand, the system emphasizes equal opportunities rather than the simple fairness of outcomes.
Third, the Chinese-style modernization is the coordinated modernization between material civilization and spiritual civilization. The main contradiction we are confronted with is the one between the people’s growing needs for a better life and the unbalanced and inadequate development. Therefore, the thought of people-centered development is to solve the two relations of balance and sufficiency.
Fourth, the Chinese-style modernization is a modernization in which man and nature coexist in harmony. China has written ecological conservation into its Constitution, and “enhancing the awareness that green waters and green mountains are golden mountains and silver mountains” has also been written into the Party Constitution. From this perspective, the CPC Central Committee attaches great importance to green development and emphasizes the harmonious coexistence between man and nature. In fact, what it solves is the problem of “full development”, which is not only economic development or social development, but also the harmonious coexistence between man and nature.
Fifth, we should follow the path of peaceful development. The Chinese-style modernization is not beggar thy neighbor, or emphasizing China’s own development, but driving the development of the global economy through China’s development, thus promoting the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind, and pushing human civilization to a new stage and building a new form of human civilization.
Chinese-style modernization is of great significance to China at present. On the one hand, it can fundamentally solve the contradiction between the people’s growing needs for a better life and the unbalanced and inadequate development. On the other hand, Chinese-style modernization can realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, make the Chinese economy become the locomotive leading the development of the world economy, and make the Chinese nation stand among the nations of the world.
It can be said that the Chinese-style modernization mentioned at the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China points out the correct way to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation against the backdrop of the increasingly complex political and economic situation in the world, especially in the face of profound changes unseen in a century.
Chinese-style modernization is a true manifestation of the sinicization and modernization of Marxism, which further demonstrates the strong vitality of Marxism and will lead us to achieve the goal of the second century. This will also profoundly affect the process of world history. Therefore, Chinese-style modernization is actually a Chinese plan to contribute to the development of the world economy.
In realizing Chinese-style modernization, first, we must adhere to strengthening the Party’s overall leadership, which is the only way. Second, we should unswervingly follow the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, which is embodied in confidence in our road, theory, system and culture. Third, from the perspective of specific path, we should fully, accurately and comprehensively implement the new development concept, namely, innovation, coordination, green, openness and sharing. Among them, innovation becomes the first driving force, coordination becomes an endogenous feature, green becomes a universal form, openness becomes the route must be taken, and sharing becomes the fundamental goal.
From an economic point of view, China’s economy has entered a new stage of development in all aspects, from macroeconomic fundamentals, to industry cluster development, to the improvement of enterprise total factor productivity, and to the improvement of enterprise product added value. Entering the new development stage requires us to fully implement the five new development concepts, and build a new development pattern that takes the domestic big cycle as the main body, and the domestic and international double cycles promoting each other. This is an important connotation of high-quality development. Therefore, we should continue to focus on the requirements of “three new and one high”, namely, grasping the new development stage, implementing the new development concept, building a new development pattern, and promoting high-quality development.
