On June 11, 2024, Hamada Takashi, Consul General Japan in Shenyang, Consul Iwamoto Takuya, Consul Teramoto Shigeki, and Deputy Consul Urata Taira visited Liaoning University (LNU). Professor Yu Miaojie, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and President of LNU met the visiting guests.
President Yu Miaojie expressed a warm welcome to the visit of Hamada Takashi and his party and expressed gratitude to the Consulate General of Japan in Shenyang for their long-term support and assistance to LNU. He briefly introduced the construction of the dominant disciplines and the effectiveness of internationalization at the university. In addition, he introduced exchanges and cooperation with Japan, as well as Japanese language education and research, among other things.
President Yu Miaojie noted that 2024 will mark the 52nd anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between China and Japan, and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the cooperation mechanism between China, Japan and South Korea. Liaoning University is willing to take this as an opportunity to give full play to the advantages of the economics department of Liaoning University under the leadership of the Liaoning Provincial Government's policy of ‘deep cultivation of Japan and South Korea’. Through the strong promotion of the Consulate General of Japan in Shenyang, exchanges and cooperation with Japanese universities and companies will be further strengthened.
Consul General Hamada Takashi affirmed Liaoning University's achievements in Japanese language education and teaching, adding that universities play a vital role in Sino-Japanese youth exchanges, high-level cultural exchanges, and academic exchanges. He hopes to carry out substantive academic and cultural exchange activities with Liaoning University through specific projects in the future and will do his best to help Liaoning University carry out high-quality cooperation with Japanese universities and Japanese companies.
Vice President Huo Chunhui said that Japanese Studies, an academic journal sponsored by the Japan Research Institute of Liaoning University, has a long history and fruitful results. It enjoys a high reputation in Japanese studies. He hoped that the Consul General and the members of the party will promote Japanese Studies to further enhance its academic influence in Japan. He also hopes to take this as an opportunity to further strengthen exchanges between Chinese and Japanese youth, and welcome more Japanese students to LNU to participate in short-term research and learning activities such as summer camps.
