On May 17, 2024, Sara Yun, Consul General of the United States Consulate General in Shenyang, Stanislas Phanord, Public Affairs Officer, Dewey Moore, Political-Economic Section Chief, Li Chi, Protocol Assistant, and Tong Yanjun, English and Education Program Coordinator, visited Liaoning University. Yu Miaojie, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and President of LNU, met the visiting guests.
Yu Miaojie welcomed the visiting guests and introduced the basic information, academic institutions, and advantageous disciplines of Liaoning University (LNU). Yu Miaojie focused on introducing the American scholars invited by LNU in recent years, the construction of ‘Double First Class’ disciplines, the academic forums held, and the top academic conference in economics, NBER, which will be held at LNU in August this year.
Sara Yun expressed the hope that through this visit, cooperation in areas of common interest, increasing the number of American students studying in China, and strengthening cultural exchanges between China and the United States, can all be promoted.
The two parties have had in-depth discussions and reached consensus on potential short-term student exchange programs, educational programs for international students, English language fellow programs, faculty introduction, academic and cultural exchanges between Chinese and American universities, and annual academic forums.
Vice President Huo Chunhui introduced the cooperation between LNU and American universities. He hopes to continue to carry out relevant activities with American universities in the future.
Jiang Zhengpeng, Deputy Director of Management Office for Foreign Affairs at the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Liaoning Province, stated that the two sides have maintained a stable, healthy, and harmonious cooperative relationship. The Foreign Affairs Office will keep supporting cultural and academic exchanges between Liaoning and American universities in the future.
Ma Shuang, Director of the International Exchanges Office, Qu Yi, Deputy Director, and Yin Ruyu, Executive Director of the Far East Cooperation and Development Research Institute, attended the meeting.
