Delegation Led by Yu Miaojie Attends 11th Euro-Asian Symposium on Economic Theory

From June 26 to 28, 2024, the 11th Euro-Asian Symposium on Economic Theory was successfully held in Yekaterinburg, Russia. Professor Yu Miaojie, Deputy to the 14th National People’s Congress, member of the International Economics Association, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and President of Liaoning University was invited to attend the symposium and deliver a keynote speech. Associate Professor Chen Fu, Deputy Director of the Institute of Environmental Economics of Liaoning University, Associate Professor Yin Ruyu, Director of the Center for National Discourse and Global Communication and Dr. Liu Renliang from Li Anmin Institute of Economic Research attended the symposium and gave academic reports in the sub-forum.   

 

     

 

 The Euro-Asian Symposium on Economic Theory aims at solving urgent problems in the development of economic theories by combining the strengths of the scientific community. Having been successfully held for eleven consecutive years, the symposium has invited famous scholars from all over the world to exchange views and promote the prosperity of economic theories and practices in Eurasia. The symposium this year sought to find effective solutions to the development of modern economic theories under the background of economic system turbulence and rapid technological development. Exchanges were made based on the topics of the conceptual basis of mainstream economics and political economics, the alternative of theoretical economics development and the economic theories to build a new world order. The conference also focused on the insights and input in economic theories to solve such problems as new technology expansion, inequality, environmental justice, globalization, regionalization and polycentric world.  

 

 

Keynote speakers of the symposium included Professor Yuliya Lavrikova, President of the Economic Research Institute of Ural Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Jeffrey D. Sachs from Columbia University, Professor James K. Galbraith from University of Texas, USA, Professor Sergey Bodrunov, a Russian economist and communication academician of Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Lin Yifu, member of the 14th CPPCC Standing Committee, Deputy Director of the Economic Committee, President of Peking University New Structural Economics and other internationally renowned scholars. The symposium also compiled over 40 high-quality papers from Russian, China and American scholars.

 

       

 

Titled ‘China’s High-quality Economic Development’, Professor Yu Miaojie gave a keynote speech. He interpreted the new stages of China’s economic development from the aspects of the increased enterprise productivity, product added value improvement, the advantages of the whole industrial chain, industrial agglomeration effect and the layout of three major industries. He also analyzed the high-quality development of China’s economy and the comprehensive revitalization of the Northeast China from the concept of innovative, coordinated, green, open and shared development.

 

 

     

 

In the sub-forum ‘Globalization and Regionalization: Dialogue of Social Civilization’, Associate Professor Chen Fu, Associate Professor Yin Ruyu and Dr. Liu Renliang gave academic reports titled ‘Do Financial Technologies Alleviate the Impact of Mineral Resources on Green Growth?’, ‘Supply Logic and Realization Path of Chinese Conceptual Public Goods under the Background of Re-globalization’ and ‘Structure, Trends and Environmental Effects of Green Trade between China and Russia’ respectively.

 

   

 

 

Professor Yuliya Lavrikova, President of the Economic Research Institute of Ural Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences and his team exchanged views with Yu Miaojie and his delegation on R&D research cooperation.
