Delegation of Liaoning University, Led by President Yu Miaojie, Pays Work Visit to Russian Partner Universities (III)

 


On June 610, 2023, a four-member delegation from LNU visited the Asia-Europe Bureau of the Xinhua News Agency, based in Moscow, as well as three sister schools in Russia. The delegation consisted of Professor Yu Miaojie, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and President of Liaoning University; Professor Ma Shuang, Director of the International Exchange Department of Liaoning University; Professor Cui Zheng, Deputy Dean of the China Institute of Open Economy of Liaoning University; and Dr. Yin Ruyu, a young researcher at Liaoning University.



On June 9, the LNU delegation visited Saint Petersburg State University and were received by its leaders: Professor Sergei Andriushin, Vice Rector for International Affairs; Professor Irina Novikova, Head of the International Relations Department; and Professor Stanislav Tkachenko. Prof. Andriushin introduced the history of St. Petersburg State University, explained its achievements in the fields of science, education, and culture, and emphasized its cooperation with top universities and research institutions throughout Europe, America, and Asia. He proposed the establishment of a research center with Liaoning University in order to assist Russian and Chinese enterprises in technological innovation and industrial upgrading. Additionally, Prof. Novikova introduced disciplinary development and the postgraduate courses of the International Relations Department, with an emphasis on its newly introduced course of BRICS Studies.


    

Prof. Yu Miaojie expressed his gratitude for Saint Petersburg State University’s warm reception, then  remarked on the university’s specialized characteristics, talent training, and the development of “double first-class” universities, as well as the important role Liaoning University can take in social service functions. Prof. Yu pointed out that the scientific cooperation between Russian and Chinese universities is of great importance in enterprise development from both sides. He firmly stated that, with joint efforts on both sides, Russian-Chinese scientific cooperation will have a brighter future. After the meeting, the two universities renewed their cooperation agreement.


During the afternoon on the same day, Prof. Yu was invited to give a presentation entitled “The Economic Value of Chinese-Styled Modernization” for the postgraduates of the International Relations Department of Saint Petersburg State University. Thereafter, Prof. Cui Zheng gave a presentation on “New Connotations and New Developments of the China-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership in the New Era.”
