On June 6–10, 2023, Prof. Yu Miaojie (Deputy Party Secretary and President of Liaoning University), Prof. Ma Shuang (Director of the International Exchanges Department), Prof. Cui Zheng (Deputy Dean of the China Institute of Open Economics), and Dr. Yin Ruyu (a young researcher at Liaoning University), paid a work visit to the Asia-Europe Bureau of the Xinhua News Agency, based in Moscow, as well as three sister universities in Russia.
On June 8, Prof. Yu Miaojie and his delegation visited the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation (FinU) and were greeted by President Stanislav Prokofiev, Vice President Yekaterina Kameneva, Liliya Prikhodko (Director of the Department of International Cooperation), and Alexander Ognev (Dean of the Department of Social Sciences and Mass Communication). Representatives of the two universities discussed the issues of in-depth cooperation between the two organizations and reached a framework agreement, followed by a signing ceremony. The two sides agreed to establish a double bachelor’s degree program in World Politics via the 3+1 model, and to cooperate within the 1+1 model in order to cultivate a master’s degree program in PR (Public Relations) and GR (Government Relations) Technology in Politics and Business. In addition, LNU and FinU reached a cooperative intention to organize academic exchanges for teachers in the 2023–2024 academic year.
Stanislav Prokofiev, President of FinU, noted how the educational cooperation between China and Russia has a solid foundation. As Liaoning University is a “double first-class” construction university of China, the cooperation between the two universities will undoubtedly improve the quality of talent training within both schools. Following President Prokofiev’s remarks, Liliya Prikhodko, Director of the Department of International Cooperation, explained FinU’s development history of and introduced the university’s project “Ten Nobel Prize Winners.” Prof. Yu expressed his gratitude to FinU for its warm reception and detailed the professional characteristics and personnel training at Liaoning University. Prof. Yu pointed out that the scientific research cooperation, personnel training, teacher exchange, and other activities between LNU and FinU can better serve the revitalization of Northeast China and the strategic layout of opening up and cooperation in Northeast Asia, thereby jointly promoting the economic development of both countries and also helping to enhance the international influence and competitiveness of the two universities.
At the Political Research Center of the Department of Social Sciences and Mass Communication in FinU, Prof. Yu Miaojie and his colleagues were provided a demonstration by Russian experts on the research methods of political psychology. In particular, Prof. Alexander Ognev introduced one manner of studying individuals’ political tendencies and attitudes by combining metaphorical cards, sand-table modeling, and eye-tracking technology as a method of predicting political behavior.
On the afternoon of the same day, Prof. Yu Miaojie was invited to give a report entitled “High-Quality Development of China’s Economy,” which was attended by several undergraduates of the university, followed by Prof. Cui Zheng with a report entitled “New Connotations and New Developments of the China-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Coordination in the New Era.”
