Professor YU Miaojie Gets Invited to Give a Keynote Speech at the Presidents’ Forum to Celebrate the 70th Anniversary of Dongbei University of Finance and Economics

On October 8th, Dongbei University of Finance and Economics held an online Presidents’ Forum named “The New Mission of Higher Financial Education in the New Era” to celebrate the 70th anniversary of its founding. Professor Yu Miaojie, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and President of Liaoning University, was invited to attend this forum and delivered a keynote speech with the theme of “Training Young Talents”.

 

 

Taking “China can cultivate masters” as the starting point, Prof. Yu Miaojie elaborated the basic conditions for cultivating master talents in colleges and universities from the perspectives including the times background, organizational guarantee, educational development, and scientific research environment, and talked about several aspects that need to be further strengthened in talent cultivation in colleges and universities around the development orientation, teaching and research, and the construction of teaching staff.

Combining Liaoning University’s experience in talent introduction and education, Prof. Yu Miaojie pointed out that the cultivation of masters should start with young talents, and emphasized that the principle of the Party managing talents should be adhered to and that the top-level design of the Party Committee should be strengthened. He pointed out that the talent management mechanism need to be improved, and an environment for talent growth should be created. We should vigorously promote the platform construction and increase the competitiveness of talent introduction, strengthen service awareness and relieve worries, provide more opportunities for young talents to take the lead and be pioneers, and help them grow rapidly in the process of tempering. Finally, Prof. Yu Miaojie called on colleges and universities to give full play to the important role of master training talent pool and reservoir, so that young talents can quickly grow into the main force of scientific and technological innovation, and play a greater role in serving the major national strategies and regional economic and social development.
